Either use straight OSD for your xp builds, or use MDT 2012 stand-alone for xp.
Those are your two options if you HAVE to move to R2 before being able to drop imaging support for XP. Remember support drops in ~4 months. So what are we supposed to do about XP support? We have to go to R2 to fix a bunch of bugs we are having and we still need to support XP. No, MDT 2012 does not support SCCM 2012 R2. For that you have to use MDT 2013. MDT 2012 - Update 1 supports up to SCCM 2012 SP1. Does MDT 2012 UP1 support SCCM 2012 R2 or do we need to use MDT 2013? We still have to support XP in our environment and MDT 2013 doesn't support XP. I wasn't able to find for sure if you could use MDT 2012 with R2. ********************************************************** Electronic Mail is not secure, may not be read every day, and should not be used for urgent or sensitive issues
