Michael,

Is there any official statement from MSFT or this is only best practices from
the field ? Several of my customers are going R2 very soon, recreating from
scratch (agreed, no big deal, just copy and paste tasks..) all tasks sequences
may cause overhead

Yes. Typically I would suggest copying and pasting any customizations from the
old TS into the new one. Granted, there are minimal changes from MDT 2012
Update 1 to MDT 2013 (see
http://blogs.technet.com/b/mniehaus/archive/2013/10/19/mdt-2013-what-s-changed.aspx)
 but still…

Thanks,
-Michael

Are the steps all the same? meaning can I do the upgrade then make a new TS and
then make new steps of the same type and values and expect it to work?

Sorry, we always suggest creating new task sequences to work with the new MDT
scripts and task sequence templates. No testing is done with “old” ConfigMgr
task sequences and “new” scripts to ensure that everything works together. Try
at your own risk.

I’m pretty sure that you can use the old ones, juste make sure to create/update
your MDT packages and update your task sequence to reflect the change.

Once you complete the CM12 R2 and MDT 2013 upgrade, can you continue to use
your existing Task sequences or would you have to build new ones right away?

Has anyone written an article about upgrading to CM12 R2 and what is necessary
in regards to MDT?
