Not sure if you're running in to this, but these are some notes I took from my experiences with autologon.exe if you're using sysinternals.
For some reason Autologon.exe fails to remove the AutoLogonCount value from the registry. If this value is set it will decrement the value each time Windows does an autologon. When it reaches 0 it will no longer autologon. By default this value is set to 0 on new Windows installs. Autologon.exe will need to be run once, reboot the machine, and then run again before it will remove this registry value. By removing the value we can set Autologon with a single execution.
