FYI, this was submitted as feedback on the old MDT Connect site (which no longer exists), but we do still have the bug tracked for future addition. The bug exists in at least MDT 2012 Update 1 as well. Thanks for sharing the workaround. BTW, Michael noted a while back that this will probably also affect language packs: "Windows 8 Pro supports multiple language packs, while Windows 7 Pro only supported one. So the "select language pack" wizard pane has similar logic to look at "high-end SKUs" to determine whether to show checkboxes (select one or more) or radio buttons (select one only) for LPs."
