Trevor is correct. That is what ZTIGather.wsf looks for (Check out line 402).
For Tablets/Slates (Surface Pro), you'll want Chassis Type = 17.
We actually treat our Slate devices (Surface Pro) as a laptop internally so I
just add ChassisType 17 to the following Select Case statement:
Select Case objInstance.ChassisTypes(0)
Case "8", "9", "10", "11", "12", "14", "18",
"21","17"
bIsLaptop = True

Charles,
Have you examined the Win32_SystemEnclosure.ChassisTypes property in WMI?
In PowerShell:
(Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_SystemEnclosure).ChassisTypes
Cheers,

Subject: [MDT-OSD] Windows 8 or 8.1 Tablet MDT Rule to capture whether a
machine is a tablet or not
Fellow MDTers,
I am currently looking for a way to detect a tablet like the properties already
setup in MDT such as [ByDesktopType] Subsection=Desktop-%IsDesktop%
[ByLaptopType]
Subsection=Laptop-%IsLaptop%
However, I cannot find a variable that works to detect a tablet.
The situation is....
I have a Task Sequence that calls on laptops to install VPN software when it
detects based on these values that a machine is a laptop. I'd like to add the
same function for a tablet but cannot figure out how to do so. Logs I have
from a tablet show that it is NOT a Server, Laptop, or Desktop so how can I
detect a tablet to use in a way in my TS to specify what software should be
installed to a tablet only?
