I use the following:

Manufacturer | Model | Platform | Device | Version

Which might look like:

Dell | Latitude Exx40 | W7x64 | WLAN | A06

You might end up with some duplicates in your gold source this way, but you
maintain the ability to update things more granularly if/when necessary.

Subject: [MDT-OSD] Folder structure for drivers for multiple OS?

I follow the control method for driver management, for example.

Drivers-> Win7x64 -> LenovoThinkCentre_Mx3 -> LAN
Drivers-> Win7x64 -> LenovoThinkCentre_Mx3 -> DISPLAY
Drivers-> Win8x64 -> LenovoThinkPad_Yoga -> WLAN
Drivers-> Win8x64 -> LenovoThinkPad_Yoga -> USB3
etc etc

The only issue I find with this method is drivers used for different OS
version, such as a driver that spans Win7, Win8, and Win8.1. So I may have a
driver in my Win7x64 folder that is used on my Win8x64 builds.

What do you do in situations like this?
