As someone who thought they were hot stuff and wanted to build kiosks better
than the crappy locked down XP installs with SteadyState.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR LIFE BUILDING KIOSKS. JUST DON'T.

I spent literal days of time trying out jillions of GPOs and Linux distros and
even learning how to hack on the kiosk mode in development builds of Chrome OS.

None of it got me anywhere close to anything I had any confidence in. All
solutions are built to enable users, not restrict them.

Just use this and get it over with. We finally have kiosks I don't think about
for months at a time. They even autoupdate.

It seems stupid and small, but this is one of the biggest blessings I've ever
come across. It was like a light shining down from the heavens.

(I have absolutely no relationship at all with the company or anyone involved
with it)

Subject: [MDT-OSD] Windows 8.1 - Block Access to Start Screen

I'm working on a Windows 8.1 build for a web-browsing kiosk type of machine. I
would like to prevent users from hitting the "Start" button and getting to the
Start screen.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Thanks

Mike
