I have never seen that problem myself.

Sounds like some Active Setup problems.

It's not clear to me from the post below If this is a problem within the
Build and Capture process itself, or with the image deployed in production.
Perhaps you have some Antivirus antimalware or other Group Policy
definitions that are blocking Active Setup per user. First thing I would do
is try a deployment without joining a domain and without AV.

Interestingly, running this command C:\Windows\System32\ie4uinit.exe
-UserIconConfig threw the shortcut into the Apps panel (I was actually able
to search for it then) and then I was able to pin it to the Start Screen and
the taskbar. But obviously that should not have been the case.

Keith, no it did not exist in that location until I ran the above command.

Anyone have any clues as to why it would disappear? I thought maybe the
Browser choice update got installed, but I exclude that KB in the
customsettings.ini.

Thanks,

I am not using CopyProfile in the unattend, and yes the patch level for IE
11 is 11.0.015.

Are you using CopyProfile in your unattend?

Can you verify the IE patch level? 11.0.15?

Hi all,

I am running a B&C TS for Windows 8.1 x86. It's the latest download from
MVLS. I have a Suspend action in the task sequence to verify everything
before I sysprep and capture. I'm running into an issue where there are no
default shortcuts for Internet Explorer 11, like in the task bar and the
Start Screen. I can still access iexplore.exe through Program Files. This
does not occur on the x64 TS, even though they are the same, outside of the
actual operating system being applied. Has anyone seen anything similar
before and resolved it?

I found Jason Sandy's article written here, but the VBScript did not resolve
this for me. Admittedly, I'm not fluent in VB, so if something needs to be
modified or updated to work on Win8.1, maybe someone can point me into the
right direction?

Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated. I searched through the mailing
list for this issue, since my joining at least, and didn't see the question
arise. Hopefully this isn't a "duplicate" email for most of you.

Thanks,

Garrett Chandler
