and you set the BIOS so that the USB is the first boot device?

Leave the USB stick in the device and see if the tablet 'sees' the USB
stick. If the BIOS reports it as bootable device set it as the first
bootable. It should boot.

I had the same issue with my laptop. As soon as I left the USB Stick in my
laptop and had the BIOS 'see' it as a bootable device I configured the BIOS
so that it was the first bootable device.
