So now that 1607 is available is 1511 only be patched/maintained by microsoft 
for the next 8 months ?

Am I reading that right ?

Most of those should work on new builds, just may have to be updated a bit.

This is basically our first wim in the new world(not windows 7) and I figured I 
could offline patch my way to the latest version.

Since that’s not possible im going to have to pull all my customization out of 
the image, dump them in script and apply them as a step in a task sequence :/

Its no trivial task stripping features, apps and such out of Win 10

Not that I’m aware of.

Why do you want to upgrade the WIM file?  It would be better to run 1607 
through your build & capture process.
