More important to me:

Where can I read and watch tutorials on this?

You should never build an image on physical hardware, always use a VM.
Drivers don't go into images if you can help it.

Trying to set up a Windows 7 OS deployment using SCCM 2012 r2.

Are there any best practice Task Sequence's laying around the interwebs.

I have 1 that is almost working.

Gets to the last step of making the new WIM file and blows up with 0x2.

I am pretty sure it is the specific NIC driver for this laptop I am using as
a source.

But it kind of unclear.
