Thanks, Perry. There is a C++/XCode project for PortMidi. PortMidi uses 
CoreMidi, and I'm guessing that library does not exist for iPhone. 
PortSmf for midi files does not sue CoreMidi; it only deals with data, 
so I'm thinking that would be an easy port. Again, what to do with the 
MIDI data on an iPhone is an open question. -Roger
