JAKARTA (Reuters) - Ten people, mostly teenagers, were killed in a stampede at
a rock concert in Indonesia's Central Java province, police said on Wednesday.

The crush occurred on Tuesday evening when thousands of fans jostled to leave
the stadium at the end of the concert by popular band Ungu in the town of
Pekalongan, a police officer said.

``It was too crowded and there were not enough exit doors,'' said Ngadino, a
police officer from the district where the stampede occurred. The town is 350
km (217.5 miles) east of the capital Jakarta.

Nine of the dead, including three girls, were teenagers, he said.

Ungu is an up-and-coming band rock band with a varied repertoire including
religious songs.

Similar deaths from stampedes have happened in recent years at concerts in
Indonesia.
