But they are disappearing at a rate of 12 million hectares a year, taking with them thousands of animal, plant and insect species. Life after Logging focuses on Borneos richest area of biodiversity, Malinau in East Kalimantan. Regrettably, Malinau and its extraordinary range of species are increasingly threatened by logging, hunting and road building. Logging has long been at the very core of conflicts between conservationists, logging companies and governments. But this need not be the case. Life after Logging shows how groups with differing forest interests can manage forests together in ways that benefit wildlife and improve the conservation value of logged forests. Erik Meijaard from TNC and Tony Suhartono (tbc) from DEPHUT will make a short presentation about the book. They will then be joined by CIFORs Douglas Sheil in an open discussion. The presentation and discussion will be in Bahasa Indonesia and English. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
