Betul.. memang bukan agamanya, hanya saja harus diakui bahwa banyak contoh menunjukkan sebagian umat muslim ada yang punya pemahaman fundamentalis (bahkan banyak Ustadz yang demikian) sehingga tidak bersifat 'welcome' terhadap orang asing/orang yang berkultur beda. Bahkan dengan terbukanya peluang untuk penerapan syariat Islam adalah bukti bahwa umat muslim relatif lebih sulit menerima perbedaan. Padahal mestinya tidak perlu memahami agama seperti itu dan memang tidak semua Umat Muslim setuju dengan penerapan syariat, seperti misalnya NU yang sangat bisa bersikap terbuka tanpa harus takut terhadap segala macam tuduhan negatif maupun takut imannya luntur. Oleh sebab itu perlu re-orientasi isi dakwah dan tausyiah agar supaya umat yang dominan muslim lebih bisa bersikap terbuka terhadap kehadiran orang lain yang berkultur beda (orang bilang : lebih bersikap pluralis).
