Sink hole traps police car March 20, 2009 7:22 PM Des Plaines firefighters and emergency crews had to hoist a Des Plaines police commander's vehicle out of a sink hole today. Police Chief Jim Prandini said that the commander was doing a radio check, looking for dead zones, and pulled up on a sidewalk during the test. The sidewalk collapsed as there was a significant amount of erosion below the pavement. The area was under water last September in the floods. The squad car was directly over a gas line, so it was lifted straight up to avoid damaging the line, he said. http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/03/sink-hole-traps-police-car.html ------------------------------------------------------- Amateur Radio Operator Duane Whittingham - N9SSN Skywarn, ARES, SATERN City of Chicago CERT Member Red Cross Disaster Services Technology Member Red Cross ECRV Certified *********************************** * POST TO [email protected] * *********************************** Medianews mailing list [email protected] http://lists.etskywarn.net/mailman/listinfo/medianews
