EchoStar Targets SES Americom's IPTV Customers Satellite Services Provider Launches Conversion Program for IP-Prime Video Transport Customers
By Todd Spangler Multichannel News March 23, 2009 http://www.multichannel.com/article/print/190467-EchoStar_Targets_SES_Americom_s_IPTV_Customers.php EchoStar's Satellite Services division is pitching SES Americom's IPTV customers a conversion program to provide continued delivery of video transport services to telco IP headend facilities across the U.S. SES Americom last December announced it would discontinue its IP-Prime video-transport service July 31, 2009, as the service was being distributed to fewer than 10,000 subscribers. EchoStar's IP-Prime Conversion Program will provide qualified customers with EchoStar's ViP-TV transport service, replacement satellite receivers and standard professional installation. The ViP-TV transport service provides MPEG-4-encoded programming -- including about 110 standard-definition feeds and 42 HD channels -- and according to EchoStar also can provide local TV channel aggregation in the telco's DMA in both SD and HD formats. Separately Monday, EchoStar launched of its Spacecraft Command and Control Services, to provide the commercial satellite industry with telemetry, tracking and control services for satellites as well as transfer orbit services for spacecraft following launch. ================================================= George Antunes Voice (713) 743-3923 Associate Professor Fax (713) 743-3927 Political Science Internet: antunes at uh dot edu University of Houston Houston, TX 77204-3011 *********************************** * POST TO [email protected] * *********************************** Medianews mailing list [email protected] http://lists.etskywarn.net/mailman/listinfo/medianews
