C-SPAN CHANGES
http://irdrollout.com/cspan2/
This summer, the C-SPAN Networks will make some changes to the satellite
transmission of C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3. Both networks will be transitioning
to new digital feeds using Motorola's DigiCipher II MPEG II satellite
transmission system. Beginning June 17, systems will be directed to
register with Motorola via a website or project call center to request
the IRD(s) and for authorizations. If necessary, IRDs will be provided
to current and qualified C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3 affiliates at no cost.
* C-SPAN2 A new, encrypted digital feed of C-SPAN2 will be
available beginning June 23, 2009 on AMC 10, transponder 19.
* We will dual illuminate analog/digital feeds of C-SPAN2 from June
23, 2009 through September 20, 2009.
* After September 20, 2009, the analog satellite feeds of C-SPAN2
will no longer be available.
* C-SPAN3 Beginning June 22, 2009, C-SPAN3 will begin satellite
transmission on AMC 10, transponder 19.
* Affiliate systems that receive C-SPAN3 via Galaxy 10R, transponder
20 (also known as the ESPN Bristol Pod), will need to retune their
existing Motorola DSR IRD to AMC 10, transponder 19 prior to September
20, 2009.
* We will discontinue distribution of C-SPAN3 via the Bristol Pod on
September 20, 2009.
* C-SPAN3, also located on AMC 10, transponder 19 at the upper edge
in a digital encrypted format, which currently requires the use of a
Cisco/Scientific Atlanta PowerVu IRD, will no longer be available on
that platform as of June 22, 2009.
* C-SPAN The unencrypted C-SPAN analog feed, located on AMC 11,
transponder 7, is not affected by any of these changes.
