http://www.tvpredictions.com/epix011010.htm Washington, D.C. (January 10, 2010) -- Cox Communications has confirmed that it will carry the Epix HD channel, the new premium movie channel owned by several studios, Silicon Valley Insider reports. To date, only Verizon's FiOS TV service carries the channel, which has premiered such films as Iron Man. The telco charges viewers $9.99 a month to subscribe to Epix. However, David Grabert, a Cox spokesman, has confirmed to Silicon Valley Insider that the cable operator will carry the channel as well. Grabert said he would give "no further details at this time," such as when the channel will be added and in which markets. Cox, the third largest cable operator, has more than six million subscribers, which would represent a doubling of Epix's current audience if the cable op added it in each market. Verizon now has roughly 2.7 million customers. Epix is a joint venture of Viacom, Paramount, LionsGate and MGM. Dish Network has also been rumored to be interested in carrying Epix, but the satcaster has not confirmed that publicly. -- ================================ George Antunes, Political Science Dept University of Houston; Houston, TX 77204 Voice: 713-743-3923 Fax: 713-743-3927 Mail: antunes at uh dot edu *********************************** * POST TO [email protected] * *********************************** Medianews mailing list [email protected] http://lists.etskywarn.net/mailman/listinfo/medianews
