Judge: I May Award Victory to AMC Over Dish By Phillip Swann TVPredictions.com
http://www.tvpredictions.com/dishvoom101212.htm Washington, D.C. (October 12, 2012) -- An angry New York Supreme Court judge yesterday threatened to immediately grant a victory to AMC Networks in its breach-of-contract lawsuit against Dish if the satcaster does not turn over certain documents. Judge Richard Lowe III earlier this week blasted Dish, claiming the company was purposely trying to delay the proceedings. AMC Networks has filed a $2.5 billion suit against the satcaster, charging it with breach of contract for dropping AMC's Voom Networks in 2007. Deadline.com reports that Lowe yesterday thumped his desk in disgust and urged Dish's attorneys to turn over correspondence exchanged between company officials during its dealings with Voom. Lowe reportedly told the attorneys that "I don't care how much money you got," an inference that the judge believes Dish is prepared to spend large amounts on legal fees to stall the case. He added that he might initiate an investigation to determine which Dish attorneys are failing to comply with his orders. If Lowe decided to summarily rule in favor of AMC, it would then be up to the jury to set the damages. What's unclear at that point is what would happen to the programming impasse between Dish and AMC. The satcaster has refused to carry AMC and two sister networks for nearly three months and some analysts believe it's holding out to use the impasse as leverage in settlement talks with AMC and Voom. _______________________________________________ Please be sure to include a URL to the article.
