Dish is one of the few cable or satellite providers that understands
something very important: People want their TV fix wherever they are–not
just in the living room, parked in front of the set. Updates to the
company’s Dish Anywhere iOS and Android apps today continue that trend.
Now, access to Dish’s complete On Demand library is available for iPads,
iPhones as well as Android phones and tablets–it used to be an iPad-only
thing. This gives subscribers access to thousands of shows, live or
DVR-ed, anywhere you have an Internet connection.
Dish also recognizes that you may not actually want to watch some
programs, but you still want the lowdown. To that effect, the app also
includes a podcast-like “Audio Only” mode so you can listen to a live or
recorded show, allowing you to multitask and save some battery life
while you get your Real Housewives or Daily Show fix.
And in true “second screen” fashion, the app also includes new social
features so you can quickly share what you’re watching (read: spoilers)
on Twitter and Facebook.
