Last week, the FCC Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau (CGB) announced a
new e-mail service that you may want to add to your RF Report and FCC Daily
Digest e-mail subscriptions.
According to a FCC news release, the "Consumer Information Registry" is "an
expanded and improved e-mail service that will deliver to subscribers
customized information about the FCC's actions and related developments in
telecommunications and other communications services."
"We are delighted to be able to offer this valuable tool to everyone
interested in communications issues. Chairman Martin has expressed his
interest in ensuring that American consumers continue to enjoy the benefits
of the best communications system in the world. I believe the Consumer
Information Registry has the potential to play an important role in
achieving that goal," said Monica Desai, Acting Chief of CGB.
After entering some basic information on the sign up page at
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/contacts/, you can select from a list of almost 40
topics, including Broadcast TV, Digital TV/HDTV, Satellite TV and Broadband
Deployment. Unlicensed radio services were not listed, but there is a topic
called "Other" and there is also a box where you can type in interests. If
you find yourself getting more information by e-mail than you want, there
is an option to unsubscribe at the Web site.
