The Rutland Herald reports that a federal judge has asked attorneys
representing radio free brattleboro and the FCC to settle the legal battle
over the 10-watt station's radio broadcasts, according to one of the
attorneys.
US District Court Judge J. Garvan Murtha asked that the two sides to begin
discussing a settlement in the FCC's civil case against the
Brattleboro-based station for broadcasting without a federal license,
according to rfb's attorney.
"The judge is urging the two sides to settle all outstanding matters,"
James Maxwell, an attorney representing rfb, said following the meeting
Tuesday. "We were asked to come to an agreement."
The meeting between the judge and the lawyers came a little more than a
month after the FCC raided the noncommercial, community station's studios
and seized its broadcasting equipment.
