XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. agreed to broadcast news and music programming from the New York Times Co. on several XM channels. Financial terms weren't disclosed, and an XM spokesman couldn't immediately comment on the length of the agreement.

In a news release Tuesday, the nation's largest satellite-radio provider confirmed earlier reports that XM, based in Washington, will incorporate a series of Times-branded features on several of its talk channels, including commentaries from Times staffers. The content will come from the newspaper's newly established radio unit.

XM, which has 4.4 million subscribers and more than 159 channels, will also jointly develop hourly newscasts and quarterly classical music specials with the Times radio unit.

New York Times Radio was created this year and comprises New York Times Radio News and WQXR FM, a classical-music radio station.
