This Thursday morning (8-11) a Ariane 5G rocket (v.166) is set to launch
iPSTAR for Thailand's Shin Satellite, from ELA-3, Kourou, French
Guiana, South America.
Launch is set for 2:39 a.m. EDT. with a window extending to 4:39 a.m.
EDT. (11:39 p.m PDT 8-10)
Spacecraft separation expected at 28 minutes after lift off.
iPSTAR also known as Thaicom 4 built by Space Systems/Loral in Palo
Alto, California. has 20 Ka-band and 51 Ku-band transponders and will
operate with 7 on-board antennas to create 112 spot and regional beams
in the Ku and Ka frequency bands. iPSTAR will be placed at 120 degrees
East. and it will provide Internet access and multimedia
services for the entire Asia-Pacific region over a design life exceeding
12 years.
