[I have no idea what they mean by "streamlines", but from the context it sounds like they had some kind of problem with a backhaul or broadband feed to their uplink facility.]
Sky says latest problems unrelated to satellite New Zealand Press Association 13 May 2006 http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3667227a11,00.html Sky TV says problems viewers had tuning into several channels this morning is unrelated to the satellite problems it suffered earlier this year. Subscribers to Sky's digital service could not tune into several of its channels this morning following a streamlining problem. Channels which could not be viewed included Sky Movies, J2, Cartoon Network, Sky News and the pay-per-view movie channels, along with hook-ups to radio stations including National Radio, Concert FM and George FM. Viewers of most free-to-air channel links and the sports channels were relatively unaffected, though some channels did suffer from picture pixellation. A Sky customer services spokeswoman said one of the streamlines which transmits channels had gone down this morning. Technicians were working on restoring the channels and hoped they would be available by noon. The spokeswoman said today's difficulties were not related to the satellite problem which cut off all Sky's channels on March 30. On that occasion the network's Optus B1 satellite got out of alignment, halting programmes for more than 12 hours. Sky has an estimated 55,000 subscribers in New Zealand. ================================ George Antunes, Political Science Dept University of Houston; Houston, TX 77204 Voice: 713-743-3923 Fax: 713-743-3927 antunes at uh dot edu Reply with a "Thank you" if you liked this post. _____________________________ MEDIANEWS mailing list medianews@twiar.org To unsubscribe send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
