PARIS (AP) -- In a June 22 story about a proposed French copyright law, The
Associated Press reported erroneously that Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod can't
play songs purchased from services other than its iTunes Music Store. The iPod
can play music bought at some rival online stores, provided the songs are not
protected by digital rights management technology. Major music labels, however,
only license their catalogs to online services that offer copy protection.
