The department said it expects some satellites resulting from this initiative may be providing services as early as 2009-10. Selected applicants are expected to direct two per cent of their future operating revenues to fund special initiatives to improve access to telecommunications services in underserved communities. Industry Canada said it has already received indications of interest from Bell ExpressVu and Telesat Canada, both part of the BCE Inc. group of companies, Ciel Satellite Communications Inc. and Eutelsat SA. The department said it will also be inviting comments and selecting applicants based on the proposals that best benefit Canadians, and other criteria. ================================ George Antunes, Political Science Dept University of Houston; Houston, TX 77204 Voice: 713-743-3923 Fax: 713-743-3927 antunes at uh dot edu Reply with a "Thank you" if you liked this post. _____________________________ MEDIANEWS mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
