Grandview-on-Hudson and Lynbrook are the latest New York communities to
grant Verizon Communications franchises to offer its Verizon FiOS TV service.

The board of directors for Grandview-on-Hudson approved the FiOS TV
franchise Monday night. It is the fourth community in Rockland County to
approve a FiOS TV franchise, along with Nyack, South Nyack and Upper Nyack.

Meanwhile, the Long Island village of Lynbrook also approved a FiOS TV
contract that night. It joins nearby communities Massapequa Park,
Cedarhurst, Laurel Hollow, Hempstead and Oyster Bay on the FiOS TV
franchise list.

Both franchises will have to also be approved by the New York State Public
Service Commission. If that goes through, Verizon will claim 10 video
franchises in the state for its fiber-to-the-home TV service.

The telco also is busy extending its fiber-optic network to further expand
its FiOS footprint. The network is now under construction in more than
one-half of the state, and it will eventually reach more than 150
communities, according to Verizon.
