Hi,

Apparently, skype-mid is an optimized version of skype for Mobile
Internet Devices (MIDs). So myabe you should keep it on your eeepc (it
is available in Canonical's partner repository, for hardy, intrepid and
jaunty, but not karmic unfortunately).

Package provided in Medibuntu (skype, skype-static and skype-common)
ship the "normal" version of Skype for Linux.

(BTW, if you decide to keep skype-mid, you should remove skype-common,
which isn't needed by it.)
