I can't speak for the medibuntu maintainers, but I think it's inappropriate to add such a package to any Ubuntu distribution.
You can make an argument for bittorrent, usenet newsreaders or even usenet binary downloaders because they can be used for legitimate purposes. Rescene's primary objective is repacking pirated movies into their original state. There is no other means for Rescene.
