I work for AudioScience, the ultimate 'upstream' for asihpi drivers and firmware.
The asihpi firmware is required to run the snd-asihpi driver which afaik is packaged by Ubuntu (thanks!) This driver is for AudioScience soundcards (http://audioscience.com).
