Apt does stick forever for me. After a little bit of time it says packages.medibuntu.org failed and all the other, if any, updates are available.
What we really have going on is an issue with the packages.medibuntu.org that has already been addressed in this bug report (I.e. it is down and is suspected to be down until Wednesday) and a bunch of impatient people trying to circumvent a fix by changing their system settings that may or may not work. I WOULD SUGGEST that these forum type responses be continued on one of the many questions/anwsers section. The bug is packages.medibuntu.org is down. It is being fixed.
