I have further figured out that
$ xdg-mime query default application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml
does not in anything, expected output would be
googlearth.desktop
Does that have anything to do with it?
What other information do you need?
@Lionel Le Fologoc: Have you tried with a clean firefox profile? One
that does not have any manual mime assocations.
