Public bug reported: fftheora decoder seems broken in libavcodec-extra-53.
Attached is a theora video which shows the issue. It plays, but has severe blocky distortion with either ffplay tpf-1-dbg-3.ogv or mplayer tpf-1-dbg-3.ogv However this works fine: mplayer -vc theora tpf-1-dbg-3.ogv i.e. using libtheora instead of ffmpeg. As a partial workaround, mplayer can be forced to always prefer theora instead of fftheora by putting this in ~/.mplayer/config vc=theora, (the trailing comma enables searching for other codecs for non-theora files). However I'm not sure how to do similar for ffmpeg. This thread may be related, and suggests that the problem may not manifest with the non-medibuntu libavcodec packges: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1410740.html ** Affects: medibuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Medibuntu Packaging Team, which is the registrant for Medibuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/939840 Title: fftheora codec broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+bug/939840/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~medibuntu-maintainers Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~medibuntu-maintainers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
