Public bug reported: Pretty close to an example from the man pages,
mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -chapter 2-2 dvd://1 -o testcase.avi which previously worked for me, after upgrade from 9.04 to 12.04 now loses audio/video synchronization, breaking some scripts of mine. Also, trying mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile testcase.vob -chapter X-X dvd://1 works for X=1, but only captures silence for the audio track for X>1. I think the whole mplayer/mencoder executables package needs to be rebuilt with more recent source code, I don't have this problem with Debian testing www.debian-multimedia.org builds. I think that would be a simpler solution than wasting time trying to debug mplayer/mencoder, since these problems have probably already been solved in the source repositories. Regards, Dallas E.
