Hi I have done the following to see what/where the problem lies I have done a fresh install of precise and assed the following packages as the base of the system : ubuntu-restricted-extras; compizconfig- setting-manager; htop; ethtool; nfs-common; myunity; secure-delete; recordmydesktop; and cheese. also did an dist-upgrade then I reboot
