We went live with our pilot unit last October and I must say that this is the biggest issue that we are addressing.

The pilot unit likes carts even though there are some issues with hallway crowding. We are still evaluating which one. Respiratory is trialing tablet PC as portable devices.

We are using the Metrologic Focus tethered scanner and it is working great. Metrologic had to develop some custom logic for us to be able to parse the NDC number correctly but that was accomplished prior to our go live. The scanner is working like a charm and we are using Data Matrix as well as RSS, RSS stacked, linear and maybe others. No problems with the type of bar code that it can read.

Good luck!

Thank you,

We are planning on going live with BMV late this year and are in the process of  obtaining equipment and developing processes. For those who are already live with BMV, what medcarts and barcoding equipment are you using?? Do you use a med dispensing machine?? What process do you use for med passing when it is only 1 med to be given to 1 patient. Do you take the entire med cart and barcoder with you each time or do you use a hand held device. Would you recommend your current equipment?

Thanks in advance for all your input
