Cathy - I still have this in Magic 5.5 test (we go live on 3/19). I don't
plan on bringing this to live until about a week later. The mapping is
critical, especially the un-mapping. As I stated, I had Cipro pre-mix as an
allergy and wound up with 20 concentrations of dextrose added as allergies
to my test patient because I didn't realize that I had to un-map them.
Meditech does have a presentation if you go under updates, then tools and
resources, then enhancement presentations where you can choose Magic or
Client server. As I mentioned previously, you will need to get the correct
CD from FDB
CDG14MO and your consultant will have to add some things to the MIS toolbox
parameters.
The other thing that I noticed is that Meditech is also supposed to use
FDB for duplicate checking and that is not working for me. I've spoken to
Mark Donovan and he is looking into this. If we can rely on FDB for
duplicate checking, then we can pretty much not have to worry about
maintaining the drug classes any longer. Also, another thing in the
documentation stated that "once allergies are centralized in MRI (5.5 SR2),
the customer defined screen will no longer be needed for collecting the
patient's allergy information".
This is incorrect and is not until 5.6 according to Mark. In 5.6, everyone
(nursing, pharmacy, MD's) will share the allergies and use the same thing,
which is what we have asked Meditech to do for years. It will be really nice
to have one central database where everyone picks allergies from the same
dictionary (MIS).
They are presently working on doing this with Medispan and Micromedex, so
everyone will have this functionality.
