Richard - We have created a separate MAR section for chemo. Now, as for the associated meds, we place them on the chemo MAR if they are just one time orders for the day or days that the chemo is being given. If they run past the days that the chemo is given, we just put them on the SCH or PRN MAR. Most often happens with the anti-nausea drugs. I created a separate order type for these meds so that they would show up on the chemo MAR.

Hello, meditech-L'ers. Has anyone come across a similar request, about keeping separate chemotherapy Medication Administration Records (MARs) apart from regular MARs?  If so, how do you go about doing it?  Or is it as simple as rearranging the MAR SECTION SORT fields to make my chemo-order types/IVPB's come first?

TIA,

Richard

Richard - would you put out a query through Meditech or MUSE (whatever) to see if others have run into this situation. It sounds to me more like a convenience rather than a necessity.

Hi

In talking to the COG nurses we would like to keep the chemo sheets separate to the regular medications. There needs to be easy access for audit purposes, treatment summaries, chemo verification, checking toxicities and dose adjustments and for determining total doses. This is information that is required for the COG protocols and needs to be fed into a bigger data base.

Thanks Margie
