Jan:
We have an intervention in NUR called "Newborn Hearing Screen" that is on our
newborn order set. Prior to discharge, the nurses run the test and document
pass/refer on left/ride side. If this screening needs to be repeated, the "Y"
response triggers an OA message to print telling them the date/time to return
for the repeat screening. The pass/refer label that prints out from the
machine gets placed on a progress note with the baby's label attached and faxed
to the pediatrician, so those results are then in the doc's offices.

Hope this helps...Diane
