Unfortunately, scanning in the alt NDC # for every drug was the only way
we could get it to work...our techs now scan an example of all drugs
received into inventory prior to stocking those drugs on the
shelves...don't forget to do this with IV solutions as well!

Subject: NDC #'s for BMV

We are in the very initial stages of BMV implementation. When testing
the scanner on some bar codes from prepackaged unit dose drugs, I found
that they all lack the initial zero in the official 11 digit format.
Additionally, some of the bar codes I scanned have a prefix. Obviously,
none of them matched up with the correct 11 digit NDC number in my drug
dictionary which needs to kept perfect in order for fomulary service to
work. Is there any way to program a scanner to be compatible with the
standard NDC number format? Please don't tell me that I must use the Add
Alt. NDC# routine to add these bogus NDC's for every single drug in the
dictionary. Thanks.
