======================================

We are currently running Meditech v. 5.4 (SR3) and are considering using voice-recognition software (Dragon Naturally Speaking) for dictation of the gross data section in the Pathology module.

If anyone has any experience with this, could you please offer your thoughts on the following questions (and any other pointers you think might be helpful)?

[1] Does the setup in the gross room allow for complete hands-free operation? If so, what sort of equipment do you use?

[2] If any of your pathologists have accents, how well does the system do after appropriate training?

[3] What data sections do you use the voice recognition in?

[4] How difficult was the implementation of the system, going from traditional transcription to voice recognition in terms of staff (pathologists and others) acceptance?

[5] Did you realize any savings in FTE's as a result?

Thanks!
