Hello all,
We are Client Server 5.4.3 site and are having an issue with the Scheduling/Pre-Registration process in relation to providers. Surgeries are scheduled in the surgery department on a non-Meditech surgery system. When the surgery is scheduled in that system, a notification prints in our Central Scheduling department. The Scheduling department then schedules the patient for a Surgical Admit or Same Day Surgical admit appointment in the Meditech Scheduling module. When this appointment is scheduled, the surgeon is put in as the provider on the appointment. These patients are then subsequently pre-registered by the Central Scheduling staff. The problem that we have is since the surgeon was put in as the provider on the appointment, the surgeon now defaults in as the Attending during the pre-registration. This is an issue as the surgeon is usually not the Attending. This requires that the Scheduling staff remember to move the Surgeon to the Other provider field and put the true Attending in the Attending field. Since this is a manual process, the staff doesn’t always remember to update/change the providers on the Pre-Registration process and this has caused numerous headaches down the line.
I am hoping and do believe that if/when we implement the Meditech OR module we may no longer have this issue. In the meantime though, I was just wondering if there are any other sites out there that have experienced this problem or something similar and how you have resolved it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
