We decided to use a prompt pay discount insert that is included with the
patient's bill if they are self-insured.  We were unable to calculate
something that would appear on the bill.  We had asked Meditech and our
statement vendor if this was something that they could accommodate.  The
best solution for us was to use an insert to inform the uninsured
patients that if they paid within XX days of service/discharge, the
amount of their payment with the insert/coupon may be reduced to XX% of
total charges.

Do any Meditech hospitals provide a prompt pay discount and if so, how
do they handle it?  Do they have this automated through Meditech or is
the discount a manual process for the Cashiers?
 
We will be implementing a Prompt Pay discount within the next few months
and are wondering how to automate the discount on the statements so the
patient sees what they should pay within the first 30 days of receipt,
but making sure that the discount is removed after 30 days if payment in
full is not received.
