We are Magic but have the same type issue. What we have done to work
around this is create combination orders for every possible combination
CT. (Pain in the butt, but not sure how to make it work any other way)
Our PACS (Amicas) does not allow splitting a study after being sent. So
we have orders for Abd/Pel, Chest/Abd/Pel, etc. This allows multiple
studies to have one accession number.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked
something.

Kathryn,
In your PACS software, can you assign a new study UID to the PELVIS
images, then resolve them to the PELVIS order/ascession#?

We have a radiologist who's concerned about the way CT images are
currently being stored in our PACS. Today we get orders/requisitions
through MT and then this information is pulled to CT worklist and then
that information is transferred to PACS when the study is completed.
The problem in CT is a timing issue with our IV contrast agent and the
way studies are done simultaneously (CT chest, abdomen, and pelvis) for
instance. Because of the contrast we cannot stop doing the chest switch
to the abdomen information in the worklist and then switch to the pelvis
information, but when all of this transfers to PACS it appears as one
study (whichever information is pulled from worklist) most likely CT
chest in this instance. He's concerned that some studies may appear to
have not been done by looking at the PACS.

Thank you in advance for your help,
Katie
