We use the pharmacists to enter the orders after they show up in a tube. It takes just as much time to verify the technician work as it does to enter the order. We have all medications in Pyxis, housewide, but still have a small cart fill for items that won't fit in Pyxis. Call if you have more questions. Jeff Thompson, R.Ph. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== We're in the process of building the PHA application and I'm starting to work out how it will affect our current work practices. We're going to initially be using cart fill with eventual change to full Pyxis. What I'm most interested in is peoples experience with taking a physician order from a piece of paper that arrives in the pharmacy to the medication actually getting to the nursing unit. Things like should orders be entered by pharmacists with technicians filling and doing a final pharmacist check or would it be better to have the technicians enter the orders with a pharmacist verifying the entry and filling the order? All input would be appreciated Bob Robert Brennan RPh St Joseph Health Systems of Rhode Island Department of Pharmacy 200 High Service Ave N.
