I would not even attempt EMR without a pharmacy. The way the orders are entered by the pharmacist is a key safety issue. It has to be very clear. A good interim step is to have the patient's paper MAR be created out of Meditech. The discussions and workflow changes needed to accomplish this are a very good foundation for th eMAR. There is a trememdous amount of work for the pharmacy... Lots of rethinking and reorganizing of their dictionaries.
