Have you tried removing all inventories from the PHA location and
instead setting up your inventories at the cart level? Your MAIN
inventory should be defined for each drug otherwise this approach will
cause issues. I think there is a Site hierarchy that you may be able to
use as well or CDP for your default inventory. I had all drugs defaulted
with the inventory of MAIN so I had no issues. For UD, I have set the
cart inventory to the dispensing machine inventory. We are 100% Pyxis
profile and I noticed that during transfer that the inventory changes to
the Dispensing Machine inventory on the patient order if the order type
is MED. I left the IV Cart Inventory to MAIN and this works fine. I'm
not sure if there is any impact on UD cart fill. We are not using MM
management either. In this scenario, Pyxis will need to map each of the
rooms to the Pyxis unit in question. It works really well so I tell this
to everyone who still struggles with the requiring a rule to change
inventory problem. You don't have to worry about this!!

Long story short, you can set up your dispensing machine inventories to
match your cart; hence the inventory is brought down to the room level.
If you want to carve those patients out in your Pyxis units, Pyxis will
need to build a table to send those patients to the proper Pyxis for
those unit 2 Pyxis 1 MIS location areas.

Hope this helps.

John,

We have 2 Pyxii (more than one Pyxis?) on two of our floors. The stock
in each does not match and all the patients on the floor show up on each
machine as configured now. We currently have these set up at the cart
level in MAGIG 5.4SR3. This means that 1/2 of the time the pharmacist
must change the inventory since MT defaults in the first inventory in
the list. On drugs in both machines everything still works fine if they
forget. We haven't built any rules to stop it.

To make it work correctly, these machines need to be set up at the next
level up (Location). There are messages in the archive. Search for my
name. Then the inventories will default in correctly. It was
determined that it would take to much $$$$ to make those changes here so
we haven't done it.

Make sure you do an archive search. This was discussed in the last 6
months.
