We are currently seeking a Information Technology Director to join our team in Montrose, Colorado. GENERAL DESCRIPTION * Serves as an integral part of the client's information services leadership team. * Shares the vision, demonstrates the values, supports the philosophy, and is sensitive to the mission of the client. * Responsible for aligning the resources under their control to meet IS and client goals. * Responsible for managing the team in support of the strategic and annual plans. This includes systems maintenance, implementations and project management, daily operational management, a focus on customer service, staff skills development, recruitment and retention, and fiscal responsibility. SUGGESTED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS * Experience as a director of information services, preferably with MEDITECH HIS background. * Experience working in a hospital organization and with infrastructure issues, applications, and procedures in a cross-functional team environment. * Highly developed communication skills and ability to effectively interact with staff and users at all levels of the enterprise, as well as the ability to effectively work with vendors and consultants. * Ability to manage, coordinate and lead multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to balance the use of resources effectively. Ability to estimate timeframes and meet projected deadlines and budgets. * Ability to work independently, and as well as part of a team. * Comfortable with change. * Excellent Leadership skills. RESPONSIBILITIES * Work closely with the client senior executives and managers to create a commonly shared vision for information systems, technologies and applications. * Provide the appropriate leadership that supports strategic and annual plans. * Apply standard project management techniques for project-related work. * Perform daily operational tasks efficiently and effectively. * Approach projects and daily operational tasks with a focus toward customer service. * Recruit and retain quality personnel. * Focus staff on professional development and prepare annual plans that target skills development where interest or needs exist. * Create and maintain an environment conducive to high employee moral and group cohesiveness. * Foster a high level of communication which includes regular department meetings. * Keep up to date on current personnel management skills and techniques. * Communicate effectively with peers, staff, and other departments; ensure that staff do the same. * Maintain the confidentiality of all system-generated data. Use tact and sensitivity when communicating with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other system personnel. * Serve as a resource and consultant to the client senior management. * Keep current on new technologies, trends and issues. Develop and follow a plan for professional growth as evidenced by attending meetings, conferences, educational courses and continually reviewing the appropriate professional literature. * Develop periodic reports on the performance of the department in relationship to the annual operational plan for the department. * Perform other duties as assigned and/or appropriate. * Customer Service: - Develop and maintain Service Level Agreements for all key services and customers. - Monitor and report key performance indicators: service, quality, efficiency, capacity. * Project Leadership: - Manage projects to meet objectives, timetables, and budgets. - Deliver value to client for its investments in information technology. * Staff Leadership: - Recruit, retain, and develop appropriate staff skills to meet service and project commitments. - Evaluate staff performance on an annual basis: timely, objectively and constructively. * Systems and Support: - Provide appropriate, equivalent levels of service and system functionality to the hospital. - Ensure that systems that are in production provide the appropriate level of daily service; that they are maintained, upgraded, and enhanced on an appropriate schedule; that they remain within client technology standards and data standards; and that systems and data assets remain appropriately secure. * Application Architecture and Standards: - Develop and maintain an application architecture that clearly identifies the core systems and the interrelationships needed to support a health care delivery system. - Link the application architecture to the IS standards for: technology, networks, and data. - Establish an acquisition and replacement plan that supports the client strategic objectives. * Network Architecture and Standards: - Develop and maintain a network architecture that ensures the access to information services and resources at all locations where clinical and business decisions are made. - Establish the standards that ensures the network is high performing, reliable, scalable, and flexible. - Establish the controls that ensure the security, integrity and confidentiality of client data resources. * Technology Architecture and Standards: - Develop and maintain a technology architecture that ensures high performance and reliability. * Data Center, Data Control, Help Desk: - Provide reliable and dependable daily service from the data center to all control and remote user groups. - Ensure high levels of service and controls for all Data Control functions, including; job scheduling, report distribution/management, system access controls, etc. - Ensure high levels of service and support for all Help Desk functions, including: desktop support, departmental network support, PC software development and intranet development. - Maintain, measure and report appropriate service level performance statistics. * Planning, Liaison, and Coordination: - Participate on the IS Steering Committee and other Advisory Committees as appropriate. - Work closely with each customer group to understand their strategic and operational system needs; and their critical success factors. - Translate these needs into operational and technical recommendations. - Coordinate the initiation of significant projects across the customer groups and IS departments. - Leverage client information technology investments to optimize value for the whole enterprise. * Structured Project Management Methodology: - Institute a structured approach to IS project management and resource scheduling to ensure project success and consistency in ongoing systems support. - Ensure the methodology covers all the steps critical to project success: * needs analysis * scope management * vendor identification * technical review * selection criteria * vendor evaluation * service, outcome, cost analysis * total cost of ownership * vendor contracting * implementation planning * roles and responsibilities * project scheduling * risk management * support planning * Project Leadership: - Work closely with the IS Project Management Team to ensure that appropriate project management methods are followed; that adequate resources are assigned, and that commitments and schedules are met. - Work closely with customer representative to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, that project ownership is clearly accepted (responsibility and accountability), and that adequate resources are committed for the duration of the project. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIREMENTS * Minimum 4 years experience in IT management. * Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, management engineering, or related subject preferred.
